Accenture’s Communications & Media Strategy Practice serves leading companies across these industries. Clients include leading fixed-line and mobile telecommunications providers, broadcasters, television platform operators and gaming companies among others, in this broad, fast-paced and rapidly evolving sector.

Our clients engage us to help them harness the opportunities afforded by the sweeping changes that the Communications Industry is both simultaneously driving and experiencing, whether this is consumers watching increasing amounts of video content on OTT services, telecommunication operators tailoring offerings to tap latent demand in the small business segment or gaming companies pivoting from boxed-sales to subscription-based revenue models.

We work with and advise the most senior leaders across this industry on the strategies they should pursue to unlock opportunity and mitigate threats in an era in which technology has progressed from being an enabler to being a driving force of competitive advantage.  This comes in many guises, be it leveraging 5G technologies, or cloud-based approaches to driving insight and value from data.

In our team you will learn to:

  • Use your intellectual capacity and curiosity to understand and frame complex, ambiguous client business problems, delivering high-value outcomes and impact, without direct senior support

  •  Apply quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques

  • Own & drive discrete workstreams and client outcomes

  • Work directly with senior C-suite clients and present back project findings to senior stakeholders

  • Develop knowledge of prevailing trends, financials and operating drivers across the Communications and Media industry

  • Build and sustain trusted client relationships by remaining highly attuned to client needs and styles

  • Contribute to business development activities including opportunity identification/qualification and proposal development/presentation

  • Support practice building efforts and engage with the wider strategy community in UKI to foster collaboration and support the growth of the business

In this role you will:

  • Play a high-impact role in strategy engagements addressing our clients’ business challenges, delivering lasting and distinctive outcomes and value in disciplines such as:

    • Growth strategies (e.g. customer & proposition refinement/evolution, pricing & profit optimisation)

    • Cost optimisation & reduction

    • Data strategies (e.g. how to leverage cloud-based technologies to drive step-changes in insight & value)

    • Innovation and Growth

  • Understand client issues and structure the problem set in order to develop possible solutions; understand companies’ key strategic/operational issues (market definition, industry trends, client issues)

  • Structure and create business/market assessments and identify appropriate tools to be used and analyses to be done

  • Develop and utilize industry knowledge to be able to make implementation-oriented recommendations

  • Develop business case elements to highlight the financial implication of recommendations


We are looking for experience in the following:

  • Experience at a top-tier or boutique consulting firm or through an ‘in-house’ consulting / business development role, with a focus on:

    • Business planning & financial analysis

    • Market assessment and analysis

    • Competitor analysis and assessment

    • Innovation & proposition strategy

    • Operating model design

  • Familiarity with recognized Strategy frameworks and techniques

  • Experience of research, quantitative analysis and structured problem solving

  • Experience of building relationships at all levels in an organisation

  • A broad understanding of how the Communications & Media industry operates including products, players, business models, operating models, industry trends and challenges and regulatory frameworks

  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-cultural teams in complex strategy/consulting engagements, delivering high-quality output in short timeframes

Academic Requirements:

  • Undergraduate Degree or equivalent

Set yourself apart:

  • Ability to understand complex issues, quickly absorb information and work creatively

  • Quantitative skills to develop financial/operational models and supervise data analysis

  • An appreciation of how technology and digital can contribute to solving clients’ complex business problems

  • A robust understanding of the key dynamics and trends in the Communications and/or Media industries, including awareness of strategies, trends & products

  • Ability to quickly build effective teams, establish trust-based relationships

  • Experience with staff development and mentoring junior to mid-level practitioners

  • Strong written and presentation skills

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and appetite for business development activities

  • Involvement with the commercial management of consulting engagements

  • Strong project management skills
