You are:
AFS is seeking a Mid-level Ruby and JavaScript Developer for a position in Arlington, VA to support its ongoing web application development effort. Using multiple open-source frameworks, a continuous integration environment, with automated continuous deployments to the public cloud hosting environment, you’ll join our team of developers building the next-generation of customer engagement systems for federal service agencies.
The work:
- Work with product owners and colleagues to interpret feature requests and develop software in iterative design/build/test cycles using an Agile development process for a responsive web application
- Drawing on components from the project’s open-source framework, use JavaScript, React.JS, RESTful web services, and Ruby on Rails to design, build and test software components for citizens and employees
- Regularly check code into our continuous integration pipeline based on Jenkins to incrementally build our overall system and get immediate feedback on build performance
- Develop and expand unit and integration tests which will be automatically run by the build pipeline for developer feedback using JUnit and other tools like Cucumber, Jmeter, and Selenium
Here is what you need:
- 3+ years of experience with web application development
- 3+ years of experience of JavaScript (e.g. React.js)
- 3+ years of experience with HTML
- Experience in using and managing change management tools, such as: Git, Subversion, TortoiseSVN, and build server software (Jenkins/Hudson/Bamboo)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
Bonus Points If:
- 3+ year experience with React.js
- Experience with Java
- Bachelors Degree preferred
- CSS/SASS
- Experience with testing including automation
- Amazon Web Services Integration
- Experience working in an Agile environment
- Working experience with code quality inspection tools (e.g., Sonar)
- Working experience with monitoring systems, continuous integration systems, middleware & database components with Chef
- Prior success in deploying to production
- Understanding of HTTP/S and related protocols
